Hair by Fairy: I have gone Blonde (Neal’s Yard Part 2)

Hair by Fairy: I have gone Blonde (Neal’s Yard Part 2)

Live, Other
Warning: long article... What? Am I being serious? Not completely blonde, I just had an ombre. Well, dip dye has always been on my bucket list. Yet, I always said no, as I just thought the look probably wouldn’t look very professional for what I do. A spur of moment, I decided to have my hair dyed in the Hair by Fairies. It was quite a risky move, could turn out to be horribly wrong.   When I arrived home. My boyfriend looked so shocked, and the first thing that came out his mouth was, ‘are you breaking up with me?’. I was rather amused by the comment, he thought I was going through some personal crisis. Apparently, according to him, this is what people do, when they want a…

Homeslice Pizza at Neal’s Yard

Eat
Neal's Yard is easily missed if you are not familiar with London. Yet, it is a place where all hipsters gather, at least I assume. Upon arriving at the junction, it seems the street is going to end there, yet when you walk in, suddenly there is a whole space of colours. Homeslice: wood fired pizza My dear friend (aka my opera partner) and I are both going to travel abroad. I would be backpacking through Europe and she will be  in China. so we decided to have a little gathering before we go onto our respective holidays. The pizza place opens at 12pm, but if you choose to go any later than that, I am afraid you would have to sit outside. We were there at 11:45, just to be…

SuperStar BBQ: sizzling Korean

SuperStar BBQ: sizzling Korean

Eat
A bit of context I like setting some context for my food posts. My memory of Korean barbecue goes years ago, when I was still in China. My hometown is very close to Korea geographically, so Korean cuisine was never a stranger to me. It was quite the norm to go out with my parents for Korean barbecue. The grilled sweet potatoes were my favourites. The good old time...   My childhood was filled with things Korean. I watched Korean dramas too: the girls always looked great, hopelessly in love. They are the damsels in stress  and would somehow always end up dying from some incurable diseases, most likely cancer. Then the guys were the prince charming, perfect in every aspect, always protecting the girls. Thinking about it, it was…

Cotton is an Easter Rabbit

Cotton is an Easter Rabbit

Cotton
Here is a little secret, Cotton is in fact an Easter Rabbit! During the Easter period, she judges who has been naughty and who has been good. Then she carries coloured Easter eggs in her little baskets, delivering them to the well behaved children. Wait, hold on. Did I just mix the story up with Santa Claus... Maybe... 1.Let's go for an adventure into the forest (I painted the background drop, which is suppose to be a forest of human anatomical organs) 2. Meanwhile, start an Easter egg hunt. Collect them in a basket. 3. Beautiful eggs. 4. Ah! A friend. I like you, so I am going to chin you to claim you as mine. (Rabbits have scent glands on their chin. They would rub their chin on anything they like to…

Who Let the Rabbits Out?

Who Let the Rabbits Out?

Cotton
Easter is here. Rabbits are out everywhere. Who let the rabbits out? Paperchase   Tiger  \ So here is my question, why aren't these cute rabbits there all year round? Who wouldn't want to look at these cute bunnies?! Build A "Rabbit" (Bear) Just look at those bunny slippers! I was very tempted to build my own "rabbit" (bear), but of course, I do feel I am a little bit too old for soft toys. Besides, we have so many at home already...

Happy Easter: Egg Staining

Happy Easter: Egg Staining

Art, Eat
This is the first time I made an effort for Easter, staining the eggs. Yes, it is not just an activity for children, adults enjoy it too. So, from this year onwards, decorating easter eggs will become a tradition for the Household of Cotton (wait, what? Cotton is the head of the household?) As it was the first time for me staining the eggs, I went for the safe approach. I bought some powdered food colouring, and just added hot water. Then the hard boiled eggs were placed in the water for 4 mins, until the eggs changed into the desired depth of colour. How to make the perfect hard boiled egg: cover the eggs with cold water, then turn the hob onto medium. Switch off the hob once the water…

Ideal Home Show & Eat and Drink Festival

Ideal Home Show & Eat and Drink Festival

Eat, Travel
This is the first time I went to the Ideal Home Show. It took place between 24th March and 9th April, in Kensington Olympia. This is the third time I attended a show in Olympia, yet this time is by far the most enjoyable one for me, because the exhibition not only included furnitures, different products and demonstrations, but also food. Ok, I plead guilty, whenever there is food, I am happy. So let's start with the food. Food As part of the Ideal Home Show, guests also gain free entrance to the Food and Drink Festival. It is one of the newest foodies' events in London. It was on the top floor of the exhibition centre, and consisted of street food, artisan drinks, live demonstrations, and music. There were…
